Gil & Marsha Visit to France 2007

France was wonderful beyond belief. There are so many pics it was hard to choose just a few.

It was our first time to visit the Provence, Cote D'Azur area.We stayed a week and it was nowhere near long enough. Every morning we woke up to ocean and mountain views. We did our shopping in local markets and only twice ate in a restaurant. Exceptional food either way. French wines of course need no commentary.

Our apartment was in Antibes. Photos taken in Antibes include the fort, Juan Les Pins (the beach), and the Vielle Ville.

Our trip to Grasse was all about fragrance. There were a number of perfume factories, and we chose to tour Fragonard.

In Biot is glass blowing and a wonderful museum collection of art glass pieces.

St. Paul was a complete surprise. It turned out to be an old monastery that is now residential and shops. Wonderful shops!!! Boutiques and galleries and restaurants. The pathways through the area were the width of a compact car, and indeed some residents had a car in there. How they maneuver a vehicle there is anyone's guess. Stone steps and narrow pathways, following the shape of the hill. We were surprised to come upon the famous statue, Le Penseur, the Thinker, by Rodin. There were 25 copies of it made, and this was the eleventh.

Vielle Ville, Antibes- interesting doors
